It is always a pleasure to welcome Gerard Longo back to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Gerard founded the Underground Music Collective (UMC), a Nashville-based educational and multimedia platform designed to give artists the resources they need to build sustainable, values-based creative ecosystems. For more than a decade, UMC has impacted thousands of musicians, creatives, and industry stakeholders through multimedia content, live music experiences, and the UMC Academy artist mentorship program. Gerard and the Underground Music Collective believe that the power rests in the hands of the creative.
The organization strives to empower artists to think and act like entrepreneurs by providing knowledge, insights, connections, and opportunities gleaned from our decade-plus journey in the music industry. Throughout its history, UMC has collaborated with nationally and globally recognized brands, including Universal Music Group, Red Bull, Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, Creative Artists Agency, ArtsQuest, Helping Our Music Evolve, and Guidance Whiskey.
Gerard Longo and the UMC have been featured across major media outlets, including iHeartRadio, MusicRow Magazine, and Authority Magazine, and have provided coverage at major events, festivals, and venues, including Nashville’s Big Bash, AmericanaFest, Ryman Auditorium, Musikfest, and many more.
On this episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Gerard Longo spoke about UMC’s tenth-anniversary celebrations, speaking at South by Southwest, and releasing his first book, 60+ Lessons from the Creative Journey: A Handy Guide for the Budding Entrepreneur.
